THE SCHOOL
The school was founded in 1984. Our purpose-built school provides an ideal language learning environment. The school has more than thirty classrooms, a dedicated internet study, wireless internet access, a listening centre, bookshop, student lounge and student café. Renovations have also provided an executive lounge, an attractive garden and patio, a large reception and student service areas. The school and its programmes have been specifically designed so that adults and young learners are able to study and socialise separately.
Within walking distance of the school are our two popular student residences, both recently renovated. Students may book excursions and activities as part of their package (Young Learners only), or
on-site at our Leisure and Activity Reception.
Situated on the beautiful English Riviera in Devon, the seaside resort of Torbay is made up of three towns – Paignton, with its beaches, the fishing port of Brixham and elegant Victorian Torquay. Torbay with 22 miles of truly spectacular coastline, including cliffs, long sandy beaches and palm trees, together with waterside cafes and restaurants, offers a Mediterranean style experience. And being in England’s favoured south-western region, you are less than an hour from Dartmoor National Park with its dramatic landscapes and wildlife, and Cornwall, a surfer’s paradise in a land of legend. This attractive unspoilt region is easily reached by train and road from London. Convenient links from the fast growing regional airports of
Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth also serve Torbay.

General English 20h
Ideal if you want to plenty of free time to explore the English Riviera and soak up the local culture. A series of additional add-on options is available whether you are looking for a more intensive programme, more individual attention, some business-related tuition.
General English Focus 20h
A great choice for ambitious students wanting to improve rapidly. Due to small class sizes of just 8 students these courses allow for more individual attention and more effective group work
Intensive English 30h
For more rapid progress why not follow the 30-lesson-per-week course? The additional 10 lessons per week provide the ideal conditions for you to develop a wide range of vocabulary and improve your key speaking and listening skills. Students on Intensive English have the option of attending skills and funtion based components subject to availibility.
Intensive English Focus 30h

General English 20h + Private Tuition 10h
Combine a General English course with 10 lessons of private tuition in the afternoon.
Business English 20h+10h
If your motivation is effective communication in business these are the courses for you. The course combines 20 lessons General English Focus with 10 lessons of Business English.
Beginners
A special course for beginners is offered on the first Monday of every month.
Private Tuition (10h)
In our One-to-One programmes, you decide what you would like to learn or discuss and the skills you would like to develop with your tutor.
Long stay, Semester and Year Programmes (12+ weeks) 20h or 30h
We know the best way to become fluent in English is to go and live in an English speaking country for a longer period of time. Students attend either General English or Intensive English courses and receive further add-ons.
Combined courses at Torbay & Malta
Enjoy the best of Europe: Study on a two-part course at our centres in Torbay and Malta. Take either General English or Intensive English and explore the English Riviera as well as the beautiful island of Malta. Minimum of 24 weeks study in total with a minimum of 12 weeks each in Torbay and in Malta centre.

FREE TIME
Our school provides an extensive leisure programme with experienced Torbay tour guides and school owned minibuses as well as coach excursions to the region's best locations. We offer daily afternoon and evening excursions as well as full-day excursions at the weekend, all year round. Our experienced staff will ensure that the trips are enjoyable and interesting. Whatever your interest, we will do our best to meet your requirements. Standard and special excursions can be booked at the school at our dedicated Leisure/Activity Reception desk, five days a week.
A short 20 minute walk from the school is the well-equipped Torbay Leisure Centre. It is open to non-members every day from 09.00 and closes in the early evening (the times vary on each day). Students gain automatic membership at discounted rates.
Students wishing to play tennis or golf will find that a short 15 minute walk will take them to Oldway Mansion (for Tennis) or a 10 minute walk for a pretty 9-hole pitch and putt course, both of which are open to the public and are very reasonably-priced. Golf courses are located at Churston and Torquay (both approx. 25 minutes by bus); students must have a handicap certificate to play on these courses.
Torbay houses a number of popular cinemas, the ground-breaking Living Coasts marine wildlife centre and fun attractions such as a ten-pin bowling alley and fun house.
Torbay has a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants and also offers major chains of supermarkets and major retailers. Especially popular are the various tea-rooms where students often congregate and, of course, the parks, promenades and beaches.
There are many restaurants and cafes in Torbay, including Italian, Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants. The most popular with our students are the many pubs that offer traditional English bar-food at reasonable prices.
At night, Torbay’s seafront comes alive with illuminations and is perfect for an evening promenade. The opening of a multi-million pound multiplex cinema and the redevelopment of the Palace Theatre, together with the numerous bars and nightclubs, has provided an exciting mix of entertainment.
ACCOMODATION
Adult Homestay
This popular choice of accommodation is ideal for students who are interested in learning about and experiencing life with a typical English host and regularly practicing their English. Our hosts can include retired couples, families with children, a childless couple, single parent, or a single person.
Student Residences/Hotels
We have two student residences, Hunters Lodge and Matilda House. For shorter periods we can arrange hotel accomodation.
