The school is right in the heart of one of Europe's largest, liveliest and most exciting cities - Manchester. The city of Manchester, with a population of over 350,000 people, is one of the largest cities in Britain and the regional capital of the North West of England. As well as being a busy centre for finance and business, Manchester is also a city that takes its culture and leisure very seriously. There are plenty of theatres, cinemas and clubs for everyone. With a student population of over 100,000 - the largest number outside of London - Manchester is clearly a very popular choice for people to come and study.
COURSES
General English Courses This English course aims to provide students with the range of skills needed to cope in an English-speaking environment. The course incorporates a wide variety of resources designed to accommodate each student's learning style. There are five different courses. Academic Year Course This course is for students who want to study for a long time in the UK. There is the chance to take a Cambridge or IELTS exam at the end of the course. It is also suitable for students who plan on studying at university in the UK and need the skills Evening Course The Part-time Evening English course is available on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm. Business English Courses This business English course aims to provide the student with a wide range of skills regularly used in business contexts. The course is designed around the individual needs of the student which are identified via a comprehensive needs analysis questionnaire distributed at the beginning of the course. Business Executive Course This course aims to improve communication at work including being able to write formal business letters, reports, emails, faxes etc, gain presentation skills, Telephoning skills and techniques, and more. Participating in meetings, Sales and negotiation skills, Conducting market research, Describing processes / operations in a business context, Dealing with business-related problems / complaints, Socialising with colleagues / visitors – using the correct English , Describing your organisation, its structure and history. English Courses For Companies This course is designed for foreign workers who are already employed in the UK and want to improve their communication skills and therefore their working lives. Our tailor-made English courses will help to improve your employees individual needs in English and help to create a better relationship with your business clients.
1 to 1 Courses If you have individual English language needs or simply prefer this excellent way of learning, we can design a course of study just for you, whether it be General English, Business English or English for Specific Purposes. IELTS Courses At the Manchester Central School of English, we run academic IELTS courses on a full and part time basis. It is recommended that students wishing to take the IELTS course are of a good intermediate level. Cambridge Examination Courses If you are aiming for a qualification in General English and would like to follow a course designed with this specific purpose in mind, then why not try one of our Cambridge examination courses? Summer Courses During July and August we offer a range of General English courses together with a full social programme that includes full and half day excursions. These courses are open to student aged 16 or above. Overseas Teachers Course This course is a refreshers course for Overseas teachers of English. It aims to provide them with advice and practical tips that can be used in the classroom. It focuses on many aspects of teaching which are relevant today including the latest methodology, student learner types and intelligences and error correction techniques. The course incorporates a wide variety of resources designed to accommodate different learning styles. It consists of fifteen hours of General English and ten hours of specifically designed material for Overseas Teachers. English & Work Placement Brand-new course for students who wish to work and study in order to improve their language skills and gain valuable work experience! Students can also work towards the qualification Cambridge Certificate in Work Experience.

Join our schools social programme to make new friends, practise your English and have fun! Discover the variety of great museums, theatres, park, pubs and restaurants that Manchester has to offer. We organise events at school such as workshops, quizzes and show films. Places in Manchester that we visit include Old Trafford, The Lowry Centre, the Museum of Science and Industry, Urbis and Heaton Park for sports afternoons. We also run trips to places near Manchester such as Alton Towers, Liverpool, Chester, York, the Lake District and the Peak District.
ACCOMODATION
Homestay & Private Home Accommodation
Staying with British people is a great way of practicing and improving your English with native speakers outside the classroom. It also gives you an insight into the British way of life. All our accommodation hosts are carefully selected and visited by us at regular intervals. We can provide accommodation for students aged 18+. Students aged 16-18 are recommended to stay with relatives or close friends who can be responsible for them and look after them for the whole period of their stay.
