THE SCHOOL
Founded by the Vikings over 1000 years ago, Limerick is a most interesting and attractive place to study English. A city of many contrasts, Limerick's recent programme of urban renewal has managed to successfully blend the modern with the historic.
Our English language school offers professionally-designed and delivered English language courses to adults on a beautiful riverside campus in the south-west of Ireland. Our school pursues excellence and relevance in the teaching of languages. We also aim to provide a friendly and supportive learning environment where each course participant can work to fulfil individual learning needs.
COURSES
Course 20h or 25h The Courses 20h and 25h offer students various entry dates to the Programme and courses of varying lengths. The courses consist of 20 or 25x 50-minute classes per week. Students are also expected to engage in private study outside class times.
Course General English This course gives participants opportunities to use all language skills with more intensive practice in speaking and listening. The emphasis is on developing fluency and on learning to communicate effectively in English.
Communicative activities and tasks include group work, role-playing, language games, and problem-solving. Themes relating to Irish culture are also covered. This course runs for nine weeks.
Business Course 20h or 25h These courses allow participants to develop both their Business English and their General English. The courses help learners increase their knowledge of vocabulary and terminology as well as structure and idiomatic expressions used in international business. Through a wide range of stimulating and realistic activities, participants develop their ability to communicate in both business and general situations.
Exam Preparation 9 weeks Preparation for University caters specifically for the language needs of students who intend to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at an English university.
Specialised english courses Our Language Centre has vast experience in designing and delivering courses which meet the specific needs of groups of professionals.
The Language Centre's Course Design Unit has prepared and delivered courses to groups from airlines and aviation authorities, local government officials, SMEs, EU agencies, a national telecommunications company, teachers and university students.

Cambridge exams The Preparation for Cambridge ESOL First Certificate Course is an intensive course which consists of 20 hours of tuition per week. Students have the opportunity to use our self-access facilities after class for additional examination preparation and practice.

FREE TIME
Limerick offers many cultural attractions, including cinema, theatre, museums, concerts and a wide variety of sports amenities. In their free time, students can also enjoy the lively atmosphere in traditional pubs, discos and restaurants.
Our school offers an extensive range of opportunities for students to become involved in sports clubs and cultural societies. The best way for our students to integrate with Irish and other international students is to join clubs and societies, which also give many opportunities for travel with in Ireland and beyond. New members are always welcome.
Our school organises excursions, walking tours, boat trips, foodfairs, sports games, theatre and museum visits, and many other activities. Our Social Co-ordinators will be happy to assist with requests and will help with signing up for activities and events. There is a great offer of activities:

ACCOMMODATION
- Homestay
This option allows students to stay with local families. Living with an Irish host family gives the student the opportunity to interact fully in English and gain an insight into Irish life and culture. All our registered families are of a very high standard and offer accommodation in comfortable and friendly homes either within walking distance or a bus ride away from the school. Our families are supportive and friendly and offer clean, comfortable homes to our students. Care is taken to ensure that two students of the same mother tongue are not placed in the same host family so that interaction in the home is through English

The school´s newest residential villages, were opened in 2001 and 2004 respectively in superb locations overlooking the River Shannon just north of the main school campus. All bedrooms offer double beds and ensuite facilities contained in 4 and 6-bedroom apartments. All bedrooms have enlarged study desk areas and the kitchen and adjoining lounge area are fully equipped with all amenities.
