It is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. It covers all four language skills at nine levels from non-user to expert user. IELTS scores are widely accepted by educational institutions, can be used as entry to training courses and are recognised by other services and businesses such as immigration and recruitment.
